Hoping a plane over to Oahu I called up Christopher Cook Photography and suggested a shoot over at Shark Cove on the north shore. He ablidged with a ride and off we went. I had seen a photo of the area and thought it had great potential...I was not let down. The rocky outcroppings are strewn with an incredible array of texture and opportunity. Walking out on the edge (only possible during low surf) I found this cascade that would fill up as the waves washed over the rocky ledge way in the background and then pour over the rock. Of course to get this perspective I had to stand on a rock while the water rushed past me, had the camera 2 feet above the surge and then a 10 foot deep pool directly behind me. Fun! (and a bit scary).
Technically I was having a hell of a time. My filters were not completely clean, my release hit the water and wasnt very happy and of course the splashing on the lens I had to get rid of. All in all I was able to use the 3stop Reverse GND filter to hold back the sky and get everything in one exposure. Got REALLY lucky with the perfect cloud over head too. Thank you cloud.
See you!
