Nuclear Namolokama by aFeinPhoto-com Nuclear Namolokama by aFeinPhoto-com
This image to me was a "ha! told you so" to myself. While mowing lawns I noticed that the storm moving in from the east (I live in the tropics things are backwards), the west was still clear. Perfect combination for epic sunsets. Rushing through, I mowed enough then rushed out to a spot I remembered might be a good point to watch from. The show did not disappoint. This is toward the end of the first part of sunset...as the after glow continued for another 30 min. Those pictures will have to wait. Note to photographers: learn your surroundings and weather then have a spot in mind just in case!

No...none of my images are hdr. I do blend images to maintain a realistic DR :-)...just like using GND's or dodging/burning

a good tip and a great photo. The mist, sunsets warm glow coupled with mountains, trees and the midground make for an intruiging image. How do you learn what weather makes for good sunsets?

I actually went to school for meteorology...go figure...but the trick is just paying attention to the surroundings. Knowing what combinations of sky make for the best lighting. Clouds to the east and clear to the west, always a good sign and high clouds...no matter how cloudy it may seem at the horizon can work as the sun dips low it hits the high ones. :-)

Great composition! I've had plenty of those moments myself. No exotic landscapes here in suburbia, but I work with what I have =D
