Milky Way Over Polihale by aFeinPhoto-com Milky Way Over Polihale by aFeinPhoto-com
Finally went back to this file and completely reworked it. With LR3's noise reduction and my better processing skills. Used my headlamp to light the tree which took a few shots to get the light even. The light on the clouds I think is from the very small town about 10mi away. Did some adjustments to pop the stars a bit (curves/levels/contrast).

Much thanks

Polihale, Kauai, Hawaii

I have tried to shoot the Milky so many friggin times its mindboggeling. My last attempt was with almost exactly the same specs as this one. F2 ISO1600 30/1. Only difference was that it was 50mm, cause that is the only lens i have thats that quick. Any tips.

great shot. But I would lay the focus more on the sky so the trees could be a bit darker. But that's a subjective opinion.
Anyway... which ISO value do you use?

exif is always embedded in the photo so can check on side of screen. Could darken the trees back down...we shall see...though there is good depth between the two currently

Editing helps bring out the brightness as well. But we're also in the middle of the pacific :-P

I do not manip any of my shots...and if I ever do i will be sure to indicate. The exif reads correct. Just need a dark sky :-)
