Having friends with local knowledge goes a long way, so when one says I "have to check this spot out" who am I to disagree. While venturing over to Oahu for a quick visit I had the opportunity to photograph a remote stretch of coast I had yet to explore.
Having never seen an area before and not knowing what to expect always keeps me on my toes. This location had me like a ballerina to keep with that metaphor. Only accessible when the tide and surf are low enough, one has to wiggle down a sharp, narrow hole then scamper to the back of this gem. I knew as soon as I saw this there was going to be tons of potential. Of course the clouds had other plans.
As the sun was setting it popped through a hole that lasted about 5 minutes. During that time I tried to shoot as many frames as possible of different wave motions to try and capture the most dynamic. Overall I view this as a good first effort but will be revisiting the area in about a month to try again with different/better light.
Tech info: 4 shots; 2 each for DOF and dynamic range.
