"Galactic Wonder"

Heading out to the Bonneville Salt Flats was an exciting adventure. Having never been out there before, even with living in Utah for about 3 years (10 years ago), I had seen a handful of images to inspire me to make the trip out to the desert. Upon arriving I actually spent the first sunset I was there just off the main highway transfixed by the amazing patterns in the salt. After I was done there I headed out to the entry in what I thought could hopefully be interesting. I was not let down. With the March storms there was a solid covering of water across the salt and with the moon nearly full I was able to see enough to excite me for sunrise. Awaking the next morning the scene was absolutely stunning. While the water was not deep it was perfectly calm and made it seem as if went on forever. As the sun finally crested the horizon I captured this panorama. The result looking like a distant galaxy captured by telescope. A perfect start to a chilly morning!
