Fluid Forest

Sometimes the things we see all the time are the ones we overlook.

Now this is not to say I see this every day. But if I lived on the east side of the island I might. This falls is seen from the main road going up to Wailua Homesteads. Opeaka'a Falls (yea...pronounce that one).

I had known about a trail down to the bottom that was closed a couple of years ago after 2 young people fell off and were killed. Very tragic and after hiking the trail...it's no laughing matter. However, with proper precautions the rewards can be great (if you avoid getting a ticket from the cop that happened to pass by our cars...ticket avoided!)

This comp was the first I shot getting down to the falls but this shot is the LAST I took of the day. After being down at the bottom, hiking the river a bit etc it was time to leave only this time a cloud had come across and bingo! the light was there. Amazing what a little cloud can do

COLOR is real! Please see "Makaleha Green" for similar water color. Slight orton to enhance dreaminess of the area.
