Projects are fun. They give us an opportunity to plan a shot, or at least try, and then attempt to succeed at our given goal. Pre-visualization is a big part some say in pushing one's craft further. Well, getting a chance to work on one of my projects happened last night. The light this time of year, when it is not blocked by clouds, illuminates the falls as they enter the water. However where I'm standing is a dead end and not the safest place to be around the ocean. With proper sun conditions and waves low enough I ventured down and tried to nestle in for my shot. The sun is actually too far north as my visualized image had the sun in the gap w/ a sun star coming in. I also want to try and get even more behind the falls. Either way when working we take what we are given.
The sun rays coming in light up the small falls and they pour fire. Needless to say I am very excited to work here over the next few weeks and months til the sun goes south for the winter
There are many great nature photos out there but this is one that stands out from the rest, one of the best I've seen.
I'm no photo expert but I personally think the lighting and composition here are spot on. Besides all the technical stuff, to me a good nature photo is one that makes the viewer to want to know more about that place or that animal. Wherever this is, it is a place I hope I have the honor of seeing one day. It's amazing to think that by looking at this photo you are looking through the photographer's point of view. This person was actually there, as the magic was happening. As the photographer described, I don't imagine it to be easy to capture this. Props for that; It's inspirational and it reminds me that there is so much of the world left to see (and that we have to go FIND them!).
Also, I appreciate the well written description to go along with the photo, and providing the camera specs. "We take what we are given," I'll remember that next time I'm chasing the sunset with my camera.
You know something, when I look at this I feel like I am almost looking at something magical. As though this captured scene is something that you would find on the back of a spiritual hallmark card or something. It's just great. It's not too often that I find myself sitting on a rock just appreciating nature but I must say that while looking at this I'm tempted to do so. To me, that's how beautiful I think this is. Pretty, exquisite, elegant, calming, light-hearted, serene, tranquil... all of these words are words that fit the picture in such a lovely manner.

All in all, STUNNING.
