"Burly Burney"
Prior to my trip I had made a list of places to visit to experience and photograph and Burney Falls luckily fell in to the Shasta area part of my trip. It had been a very dry year up in Northern California and didn't know w
hat to expect when I arrived. At the parking area the temperature hovering around 100F. Yikes. But the falls was very audible and enticing. Coming over the edge of the trail is impressive. This wall of water comes, mostly, directly out of the rock and NOT from the river. Excited, down I went to river level and with that the temperature dropped easily 20F degrees. To the point that after the first 30 min I put on my long sleeves! Brrr.
Spending about 4-5 hours down in and around the river I knew I wanted to capture both the amazing display of falling water with the rush of the river around my feet (and yes I was in this freeing water a LOT). After the sun set enough to leave the falls in shade I went to work on a composition I came up with earlier that afternoon and went to work. One of many exciting photographs made that day!
Thanks!
